The Saskatchewan East Enterprise Region (SEER) announces the hiring of Kim Wondrasek as its Chief Executive Officer. Kim brings to the position a variety of economic development experiences as the former General Manager of the Yellowhead REDA and the current President-Elect of the Saskatchewan Economic Development Association (SEDA).
Neil Ottenbreit, chair of the SEER Board is pleased with the Board’s selection. “Kim’s experience in economic development and her passion for the region will ensure SEER is off to great start”, he said. “The network of contacts she has in place and her knowledge of the region’s potential are real assets”.
Kim was raised in the Langenburg area and was employed by Yellowhead REDA for 6 years. She is thrilled to be involved in the development of the new region. “The Saskatchewan East Enterprise Region is an innovative new venture which will help strengthen the local economy,” she said. “I am excited about the opportunity to lead this organization into the future and look forward to the challenges that this new position brings”.
One of thirteen regions organized under Enterprise Saskatchewan’s initiative, SEER extends from the Manitoba border in the east to Foam Lake, Ituna and Montmartre in the west, and from Canora and Kamsack in the north to Moosomin in the south.
The basic premise behind the creation of the region is to address business and industry competitiveness. Kim recognizes the impact SEER will have on the region. "Even in the current global economic uncertainty, I believe that SEER will help to stimulate new growth within our business communities and foster a stronger business climate throughout the present business sectors”, she said.
Kim commenced employment May 1, and is presently setting up an office in Melville.
